SECURE EXCEL SHARING

Share Excel Files Without Losing Control

Share specific cells, ranges, or sheets from your Excel workbook — without uploading the file, without exposing your formulas, and without requiring Excel on the other end. Contributors simply open a link in their browser.

Why Sharing Excel Files Is Still a Nightmare in 2026

Email Ping-Pong

  • 60% of teams still share Excel files via email
  • Multiple versions floating around — which one is current?
  • Accidental overwrites destroy hours of work
  • Sensitive data in uncontrolled email attachments

Co-Authoring Falls Short

  • No granular control — everyone sees everything
  • Sync conflicts in complex workbooks
  • Track Changes removed in modern co-authoring
  • Requires OneDrive/SharePoint upload — compliance risk

How Airrange Solves Excel Sharing

Granular Access

Share only the cells, ranges, or sheets that are relevant. Everything else stays hidden. Your formulas, data structure, and sensitive information remain protected.

No File Upload

Your Excel file stays on your device. Airrange processes everything locally in your browser. Only an encrypted runtime package is shared — not your actual workbook.

No Excel Needed

Contributors open a web link in their browser. They see a clean interface — not a spreadsheet. Works on desktop, tablet, and mobile. No Excel license required.

Everything You Need for Secure Excel Sharing

Cell-level access control

Define exactly which cells are visible and which are editable. Hide entire rows, columns, or sheets from specific users.

Review & Merge changes

Contributors propose changes. You review each one, approve or reject, and merge back into your workbook — with full control.

Encrypted transfer

Shared data is encrypted and stored on EU servers (AWS Frankfurt). Your original file never leaves your device.

Change history & audit trail

Track who changed what and when. Full accountability without manually comparing backup versions.

Works with .xlsx files

100% compatible with Excel workbooks. Your formulas, charts, and formatting stay intact. (Note: VBA macros are not supported in shared apps.)

Mobile-ready

Contributors can view and edit shared areas on any device — phone, tablet, or desktop. The interface adapts automatically.

Microsoft Teams integration

Embed shared Excel areas directly in Teams channels. Collaboration without leaving your workspace.

Microsoft-validated Add-In

The Airrange Excel Add-In is available in the official Microsoft AppSource store. Validated and approved by Microsoft.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I share only part of an Excel workbook?

Yes. Airrange lets you select exactly which cells, ranges, or sheets to share. Everything else remains hidden from the recipient. This is fundamentally different from co-authoring or sharing the entire file.

Do my collaborators need Excel?

No. Recipients open a web link in their browser and see a clean form interface — not a spreadsheet. They can view and edit the shared areas on any device, without an Excel license.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Your Excel file never leaves your device. When you share areas, Airrange creates an encrypted runtime package containing only the selected cells. This package is stored on AWS servers in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). Your original workbook is never uploaded.

What's the difference vs. OneDrive co-authoring?

Co-authoring shares the entire workbook — everyone sees everything, and there's no way to hide formulas or restrict access to specific cells. Airrange gives you cell-level control: share only what's needed, protect the rest.

Does it work with macros/VBA?

Airrange works with .xlsx files and preserves all formulas. However, VBA macros are not supported in the shared app — the calculation engine uses the Microsoft Graph API which supports all Excel Online functions but not VBA.

Is Airrange GDPR-compliant?

Yes. Data is hosted exclusively on EU servers (AWS Frankfurt). Your Excel files never leave your device. The Airrange Add-In is validated and approved by Microsoft. Learn more about security →
